BLackhill Workshop’s Story
Timothy’s very first custom piece of woodwork was a hand-carved pinewood derby race car at the age of 10 years old. It took hours of chipping away and sanding, gaining a few cuts and scrapes along the way. Pinstripes painted slightly off center and four plastic wheels transformed this square block into a real speed demon. Come race day, it landed second place to a completely untouched rectangle block that was finger painted as a school bus.
After several years as a struggling early childhood educator, his part time hobby became a full time career. The name Blackhill Workshop came from the rough translation of the Tohono O’odham village name S-cuk Son (Tucson), meaning “at the base of the black hill.”
